This is the second time Paula Cole tours with Lilith Fair.
Paula Cole had her great musical career breakthrough in 1992, when she was invited by Peter Gabriel to perfom on his tour.
In 1994, she released her first album, Harbinger, by Imago Records. Imago broke soon afterwards and the album couldn't take off. In 1995, she singed to Warner Bros. where she could re-release her first album. A year later, This Fire was released as well as its first single "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" that led Cole to the mainstream worldwide in the spring of 1997. In 1998, Cole won the Grammy for Best New Artist.
In the first edition of Lilith Fair, Cole was one of the performers to receive a significant boost of profile from the tour, and was the subject of many articles in the mainstream press. (Notes based upon All-Music Guide Biography)

Liz Phair (b. April 17, 1967)

Talented songwriter Liz Phair had her first album, Exile in Guyville, as album of year by the Village Voice and 1993' Most influential Alternative Release of All Time by Rolling Stone. It also reached the mark of the best-selling release of Matador
Her second album, Whip-Smart, also achieved critical acclaim in 1994/5 and put her in the stardom. She was voted the best new female vocalist in Rolling Stone Critics' Poll. Later, with song "Supernova" she got a Grammy Award nomination for rock performance, in 1995.
Though Whip-Smart was clearly a success, Phair, who is very reticent about performing, canceled some concert dates. She explained: "I really hated touring, and I don't think I'm a good performer. ... I've had vicious stage fright. ... It's a big old anvil hanging over my head.". But that was 4 years ago and Lilith Fair may prove she was wrong...

K's Choice
K's Choice is releasing a new album, Cocoon Crash. According MTV Online: "Mostly, though, Cocoon Crash is filled with straightforward, radio-friendly pop. The occasional half-walls of jangly guitars surrounding Gert's lyrics, which mostly explore love in various contexts, are more distraction than modus operandi; Sarah and Gert aren't interested in innovation as much as inspiration, insight and melody, which this album and songs such as "God in My Bed" and "Butterflies Instead" ably demonstrate. "
Dates: June 19 - 29
Albums: The Great Subconscious Club - 1994, Paradise in Me - 1995, Cocoon Crash - 1998

Indigo Girls
The duet of Amy Ray (b: 1964) and Emily Saliers (b: 1963) was formed back in 1980, and named themselves "Indigo Girls" in 1985. With the success of alike artists as R.E.M., 10,000 Maniacs and Tracy Chapman, they signed to Epic and released their first full-album "Indigo Girls" in 1989, that featured Michael Stipe (of R.E.M.) and soon reached radios and media with song hit "Closer to Fine". Indigo Girls won Grammy for Best Folk Recording of 1989. After this growing popularity, Epic releases their first EP again.
From All-Music Guide: "The Indigo Girls (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers) have earned a devoted following with their thoughtful, introspective lyrics (rich in religious metaphor), sensitive folky delivery, and earthy harmonies. The dichotomy between Ray's edgier, rock-influenced delivery and Saliers's soft, reflective style creates enough tension to keep their concept interesting.
